Deborah Diane "Debby" Kelso Obituary

DEBORAH DIANE "DEBBY" KELSO, age 72, of Sedalia, went to live in eternal paradise with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was born on January 24, 1952 in Fayette County.  She graduated from Madison South in 1970 and worked as a librarian at Madison Rural Elementary until 1999.

Debby loved the Lord, her Savior, and Jesus Christ more than anything.  Her faith was the building block of her life.  She shared that love of the Lord with her husband of 52 years, Ron.  They grew up together first as neighbors, then friends, and then partners, spending nearly 66 years of their lives together.  You would rarely see Debby without Ron by her side.

Together, they raised one daughter, Angela. They were also blessed with three grandchildren: Hayden, Holden, and Brooklin who were truly the lights of their lives.

Debby loved to spend her time watching her grandkids in their various activities. Debby and Ron were a staple at all basketball, baseball, softball, football (cheer), and soccer games throughout the years, as well as dance recitals and choir and band concerts. She loved taking pictures, going to church, planning holiday get-togethers, and spending family vacations in her favorite spot- the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.  Many memories were made in various cabins in the middle of God’s breathtaking creation.

Debby’s wish was for all those she loved to love the Lord as she did.  Some of her favorite memories were spent on Sunday mornings with all of her family worshiping together. “If you declare with your mouth ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9).

Debby was preceded in death by her parents, William Harley and Janice Caroline (Leeth) Alspaugh.  She leaves behind her devoted husband, Ron, daughter, Angela (Todd) Hunter, stepdad Steve Strayer, three grandchildren (Hayden, Holden, and Brooklin), two brothers, Bill (Ronda) Alspaugh and Carl (Gina) Strayer, a nephew Kyle (Cortney) Alspaugh and their 3 children (Carter, Collin, and Jolene), a niece Priscilla (Brandon) Wise and their 2 children (Everleigh and Emery), a niece Carly (Richie) Wilson and their 2 children (Wyatt and Ryker), honorary daughter and special friend, Mandy Sanders, and her beloved friends from high school (the “Fab 5” as Ron referred to them) Nancy, Connie, Cindy, and Mary Lou, whose friendship she treasured deeply.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Grace Community Church.
