JACK PHILLIP BLAIR, SR., age 85, of Washington Court House, passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Adena Fayette. He was born in Johnson County, Kentucky on July 9, 1938, to the late Eskel and Kate Williams Blair. On August 12, 1959, he married the former Judith Ann Jones, who preceded him in death on December 16, 2016.
Jack moved to the New Holland community in 1944, he attended the New Holland Clarksburg School, Eber and Washington C.H. City Schools and obtained his GED in 1990. Jack was a longtime dairy farmer and had worked as a painter and then a maintenance man for Auburn Manor until his retirement in 2004. He enjoyed gardening, farming, tending to his farm animals and going to church. He loved to tell stories (to anyone that would listen) and especially liked spending time with his family and his grandkids and always put a smile on their face with the candy he would give them.
Survivors include his sons; Jack Jr. (Tammy) Blair, Robert (Teresa) Blair all of Washington C.H. and Steven Blair of Columbus; his grandchildren; Jeremy (Amber) Blair, Larry Justice, Jessica (Emmitt) Kuhn, Jacqueline (Harvey) Blair, Kayla (Brent) Knisley, Steven (Madeline)Blair and Zach Blair; his eight great-grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are seven step-grandchildren, eleven step-great grandchildren and special aunt, Alice “Peach” Ackley.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Anderson; his brothers, Bill, Ray and Bert Blair; brother in-law, Harold Jones and daughter in-law, Tracy Blair.
A funeral service for Jack will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in the Summers Funeral Home with John Silveous officiating, burial to follow in the Good Hope Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Jack’s name be made to one or both of the following organizations: Hospice of Adena Health System, 2077 Western Avenue, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601 and/or the Fayette County Commission on Aging, 1179 S.
